Peavey 2-12 240T Deuce TUBE GUITAR AMPLIFIER, 120 watts

$275.00

For Sale- The amplifier works well but I fried one of the non-original 12" speakers and damaged the other.

Rated 120 watts into 4 ohm, 120 watts into 2 ohm, and 90 watts into 8 ohm. Peak output at rated power is 240 watts, music power output at rated load is 150 watts RMS. You can view/download the original owner's manual here: http://www.peavey.com/assets/literature/manuals/deuce.pdf

This is a classic early version Deuce amp in pretty nice shape. Early version has metal knobs and inline input jacks. Has 4 USA made older Sylvania 6L6GC tubes. All controls and work correctly and were just cleaned with electronic contact cleaner spray. Spring reverb works correctly. Both clean and effects channel work well. Some wear on the grill, tolex, and metal knobs but overall looks pretty good IMO. Built like a tank and pretty heavy.

After I got this I brought it home, cranked it up, and played punk rock power chords and progressions for about 5 minutes. It sounded amazing which is why I kept playing, only meant to test it for a minute or so. The floor was shaking, windows rattling, babies were crying, neighbors were having heart attacks- then I started smelling something overheating, looked at the back and saw smoke coming from the speakers. Turned if off quickly. When I powered up again one speaker was dead (melted the voice coil wires) and the other still works but sounds like the coil is rubbing a bit, there is a little clicking sound. Some belated research shows the speakers were not the originals but made by Heppner, probably only rated 50 watts or so. And definitely not made for guitar use, may have come out of an organ. Most likely the amp originally came with Peavey Black Widow speakers which are worth about twice as much as the amp by themselves, apparently were removed by previous owner for this reason. To be safe this amp needs speakers rated 150 watts each if you are going to play loud, at least in my opinion. Eminence Patriot or Swamp Thing speakers should be an excellent match.

Send your zip code for ship cost- should be between $24.99 and $79.99 if you are in the continental USA (Feb. 2013).
