1951 Magnavox 15 inch FIELD COIL SPEAKER, 8 ohm, repair cone

$50.00

For Sale: This speaker was removed from a tube powered Baldwin model H tone cabinet.

It originally had a heavy brass and steel spring wire contraption attached to it and the aluminum voice coil- some kind of early reverb unit.  The cone had a tear near the center so I removed the spring stuff and am offering it in a separate listing.  I got about 4.5 ohms DC resistance on the voice coil- may be rated 8 ohm impedance but not positive.  The field coil is marked 500 ohms and that's approx. what I got too.  Marked ID3537 P-232 138 C513-12677.  When hooked up to receiver with no power to the field coil you could hear the music but was very soft.  When power was applied up to 15 volts the music got louder and loud as voltage was increased- not tested above 15vdc.  There was distortion evident due to the tear near the center of the cone- when tear was propped up from behind with a finger the distortion went away- so at least in theory you could patch the clean tear from behind and have a working speaker.
