Technics SL-B2 - TURNTABLE - record player w/AT cart, new needle

$100.00

For Sale:  Tested and working classic Japanese made late 1970's turntable.

This table is a good player- has some minor condition issues which do not affect sound quality or usability.

New needle and new belt installed 2/2023- less than 5 minutes play time on stylus. Just cleaned and relubricated internally. Speed is steady on both 33 and 45 RPM. Good strobe and pitch control. Autoreturn and shutoff are working correctly. Excellent full range sound quality with no hum or distortion. No skipping.

Here is YouTube video demoing working condition:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kuNOEXsbc4

And the autoreturn in action (almost impercptible knocking as mentioned below): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Jdu0efn3E8

Turntable shows just a little cosmetic wear. Dust cover has good hinges and stays upright when raised. One hinge tab on the cover has a little chip out of it (see photos) but otherwise no cracks or issues. Minor issues- the main gear had a split in it (the main gears on these units ALWAYS end up having issues due to manufacture). It was stablized with epoxy and works fine but when auto-return is activated there is a little knocking of the platter (4-5 times) as the main gear engages with the larger gear and as the tonearm returns to the holder. This only happens when the tonearm is raised up and off the record- so no issues with the sound. New main gears are currently $10 on fleebay with free shipping and are easy to install, but I don't think you need to replace -see video. The other issue is that the spindle holder is just a tiny bit loose and I don't know how to tighten so just put a rubber band in place on the underside to hold it steady, works great.

The Technics SL-B2 is a two-speed, belt-driven turntable system featuring front panel controls for convenience.

The unit also features electronic speed switching, pitch control with illuminated stroboscope, viscous-damped cueing and anti-skating control.
