1951 Magnavox 15 inch FIELD COIL SPEAKER, 8 ohm, tested

$90.00

For Sale:  Tested and working vintage field coil speaker removed from a tube powerd Baldwin model H tone cabinet. Believe this was made in 1951 although it's also possible it was 1941.

Driver appears to be in good useable condition. Cone is firm, no holes, no voice coil rubbing.  I got about 6 ohms DC resistance on the voice coil so assume it's rated 8 ohms inpedance.  The field coil is marked 500 ohms and that's approx. what I measured on my meter as well.   The is also a small coil on top of the larger ones, figure it was used as a choke by the tube amp?

I tested this first without applying any voltage to the field coil- it worked and produced sound but was pretty quiet. I then hooked up a variable power supply and as I increased the voltage the music got louder and louder- only went up to 15 volts DC because not sure what the correct voltage for the field coil is. Sound quality was good, no distortion, no problems.

Driver is marked P-232 106, C513-1E, C3, 10389.  Believe that 232 means Magnavox, 106 is either 1951 or 1941.
