Lafayette T-5000 stereo TURNTABLE, direct drive w/new needle

$100.00

THIS ITEM ON HOLD

Tested and working high quality turntable.  Made in Japan probably in the 1970's.

Includes a classic Shure M91ED cartridge and with a brand new/sealed stylus (not shown). I tested this carefully with a good needle in place and there was no static, hum, skipping, or problems.  This is a direct drive turntable so there is no belt to wear out- speed was rock solid on both 33 and 45 RPM with no fluctuations. Original high quality  metal headshell is included.  Both speed control dials work correctly, strobe works correctly, auto-start works, repeat works, cuing works, etc.

Turntable shows some minor cosmetic wear but overall in nice shape in my opinion. Heavy and high quality, nice low profile design. Dust cover shows the usual minor wear and a scratch but no chips or cracks.

This is a fully automatic turntable which means to play an album you just press the red Play button.  The tonearm automatically raises, moves over the the beginning of the album (or EP), slowly lowers the tonearm, and begins playing. At the end of the album the tonearm automatically raise, moves over to the holder, lower, then stops the platter spinning.  The orange neon strobe stays on until you turn off the power by pushing the switch.  All indicator lights are working, Repeat works correctly, pressing Cut will return the tonearm to holder, and the EP/LP button works correctly.

This model features separate motors for the platter and the tonearm movement.  When I first got it worked but the tonearm would occasionally freeze and some straining noise could be hear when the tonearm was in transit- so I removed the bottom and put a couple drops of lubricant on the various tonearm mover parts.   After that the noise diminished greatly and the tonearm action was much smoother.  Never froze up again.  As a final test I started and stopped this about a dozen times and it worked correctly each time.

Note:  I have shipped over 100 turntables and know how to carefully pack them so they arrive safely. I remove counterweight, remove or secure platter, secure tonearm, and pack dust cover so it won't be damaged.

Email your zip code for ship cost- should be between $13.95 and $29.95 if you are in the continental USA (listed Oct. 2012).
