I have owned this for over one year and it's always picked up all the stations and never had to pay any fees or register. It's updated the channels many times. Probably has lifetime activation but even if not am sure it will continue to pick up all the staions as long as you don't do a factory reset.
Extras include a SUBX1 boombox dock with 5 speakers including built in subwoofer driver. Boombox can also be used with any MP3 player, iPhone, iPod, etc.
