For Sale: Vintage guitar. Inside is stamped 170H950 and also the date stamp that is hard to read but says F 56-7 Made in USA.
Guitar shows a fair amount of wear especially to the finish. As on most of these old Monterey Harmonys here is a small gap in the neck joint however when tuned up neck is stable- this thanks to the thick inner dovetailed joint in the neck/body construction. Action is a bit high. In my opinion could be adjusted at the neck joint by an experienced guitar teck or you also have the option of swapping out the wood bridge for a lower one OR filing string grooves in the bridge down just a bit so strings sit lower. Option also to leave the action as it is, add a slide guitar nut and make a classic slide guitar.
Looks all original. Hairline crack in the wood over one of the F holes, looks stable, a little glue wouldn't hurt. Neck looks reasonably straight. Tuners work correctly- D string tuner slightly bent but still works fine. Pickguard is orignal and in pretty good shape. Although action is somewhat high seems playable as-is, would benefit from having work done on it. Sold as is but described as carefully as possible.
