For Sale: One new/old stock set of black legendary Minimus 7 speakers. Probably made mid 1980's.
These are Cat. No. 40-2030C. They have never been removed from their factory plastic bages and still have the yellowish protective paper over the black metal cases. They are in mint shape and both include instruction sheets and stick on felt feet pads. All but one Minimus 7 speaker I have come across use woofers with rubber surrounds- these PROBABLY have rubber surrounds but can't say for 100% sure.
Often used as budget studio monitors because as they say "if the mix sounds good on these speakers it will sound good on ALL speakers". I've never seen a pair with boxes and especially never saw a NEW pair. Might be the last new set on the planet?!?!?
Specs from the internet of non things:
Realistic Minimus-7 stereo speakers, made from cast aluminum with a wire mesh grille, produce a strong 90 dB using a full range system. They include a long-excursion low-frequency 4-inch woofer with a rubber surround along with a 1-inch fabric dome high-frequency tweeter. Features also include a peak power handling of 40 watts, a frequency response range of 50 Hz - 20 kHz, and an impedance of 8 ohms. The speakers produce a sharp, crisp, and clear sound. The system, with its vibration-free design, can be used as extension speakers for a surround sound set or used as primary bookshelf speakers.
The Minimus 7 is little only in size, not in performance - it's a real giant in concert hall sound. The high compliance woofer element gives astounding bass and the dome tweeter produces crisp, clean highs. Careful acoustic design matches the two dynamic elements with the enclosure and damping materials - resulting in amazingly smooth, broad frequency response.
