For Sale: Legendary Teac reel to reel in working condition.
Sound quality is good. Heads just cleaned and demagnetized. Tested on both channels Play, Reverse, FF, RW, and record. Backlit VU meters are working correctly, both speeds good, pinch roller/capstan in good condition, headphone jack good, no static or hum.
Minor issues are that the tape counter only works intermitantly- may need a new belt or some lubrication. And the "brake" feature on the takeup reel does not seem to be working correctly so if you are Rewinding at a fast speed and press Stop the takeup reel will continue to turn for a second or two which allows the tape to unroll from the reel. The solution is just to be ready when you hit Stop and use your finger to slow down the reel. Only happens in Rewind at fast speed.
Overall not much wear. Am including a Maxell take up reel. This is a very heavy deck!
IMPORTAN UPDATE: Someone came over and tried out their full 7" reel of tape on this. It worked well and sound quality was good, however after we played a few minutes we tried to rewind at fast speed and the deck just stalled, had to be help by manually turning the reel. It still played back fine after that but fast rewind would not work. On a hunch we put the smaller test reel in place and it rewound at fast speed OK, so the issue has to do with having a full reel (not the takeup reel) when trying to rewind fast. May need a new rewind belt, lubrication, or ??? I lowered price....
