Revere Herschede 1938 model 1210 Telechron - WESTMINSTER CHIME CLOCK - good condition

$400.00

For Sale: Vintage Revere "Tombstone" style clock. This was made by Herschede and I've been informed it was made at the Herschede factory unlike some other Revere clocks of the day.

This will be shipped fully insured. Free local pickup in central NJ is also an option.

The serial number on the brass clock mechanism is 312158 which I believe dates this to 1938. The model number stamped into the wood case bottom is 1210. The motor runs smoothly and is not loud. The second, minute, and hour hands all work. The clock will chime on the hour, quarter hour, half hour, and 3/4 hour- it sounds very pleasant. It also correctly strikes the hour- 3 strikes for 3 o'clock, etc. See ebay video.

Includes the original brass key which will turn on/off the chimes using a tiny switch on the front dial.

Beveled glass is in nice shape with no apparent chips or cracks. The dial face looks pretty much mint to me when viewed through the glass front- when you open the front you can see it can use a little cleaning is places. I think everything except the power cord is original but don't know for sure- also the little brass hammers probably got replaced but what appear to be the originals are included, Please check the higher resolution photos carefully- the photos ARE the description. What you see is what you will receive.

Looks like there was originally a little knob/handle on the front cover door that is missing. There is one on the back door so you might want to move the back one to the front but in my opinion it looks fine without a knob on the front and it's still pretty easy to open without it. The back door doesn't like to stay shut but it will with a little effort. The wood case has some dings and scratches. The only real damage I see is a very small piece of veneer on the right front foot is missing, see photos. The power cord looks like an older replacement and there are wire nuts covering the connections inside the clock.

This is almost a hundred years old and will almost certainly need some oiling, tuning up, possible refurbishment or repair as well if you intend to use it regularly.

I am selling this antique electric clock as-is but described carefully and honestly. If you have questions about a specific function or part that I can check out please let me know and will do my best. This is carefully packed in a heavy duty box with several layers of thick bubble wrap plus extra protection in front of the glass. That box is placed inside a larger box with more bubble wrap on all sides - double boxed. Also the striker rods were carefully/gently wrapped with foam to keep then from banging around during shipping.
