This has 8 ports and four of the ports can be used to supply Power Over Ethernet to compatible devices like security cameras. The included AC adapter is not original but supplies the correct 48 volts DC at 1.25 amps. I carefully attached the correct plug on the end by soldering the wires then covering with heat shrink tubing.

D-Link Green Technology
The DGS-1008P features green technology, including IEEE 802.3az Energy-efficient Ethernet (EEE), link status detection, and cable length detection. Energy-efficient Ethernet dynamically reduces the power consumption of the switch when network utilization is low, reducing the cost of ownership during periods of inactivity. Link status detection automatically powers down ports when there is no link detected, saving power when the connected device has been shut down or disconnected. Cable length detection automatically adjusts the power output of the port based on the length of the cable, reducing the power requirements of the switch to only what is necessary for the installation.
Power over Ethernet
The DGS-1008P features four 10/100/1000BASE-T ports that support the IEEE 802.3af and IEEE 802.3at PoE protocols, enabling these ports to supply up to 30 W of power to connected devices for a total PoE power budget of 80 W. This allows compatible devices to be powered directly by the LAN cable, reducing cable clutter and allowing devices to be installed in locations without immediate access to AC power outlets.
