For Sale: A rare 1980's Marantz turntable/record player has been tested and is working on all functions. Made in Japan. Only minor issue is that the dust cover hinges/springs are weak and they won't hold the cover open when you raise it.
YouTube demo video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFMRnOYJmdQ
Sound quality is full range with no skipping, distortion, or hum. Includes what am pretty sure is the original P-Mount phono cartridge (TP4?) with a good stylus.
Requires a receiver, amplifier, or preamplifier with Phono inputs.
To play a record you just open the cover, place record on platter, close cover, and press Play. The tonearm automatically moves to the first track, gently lowers, and first song plays. At the end of the album the tonearm automatically raises, moves back to resting position, and powers off unless you have Repeat switched on. When a record is playing you can press the Cuing button and tonearm will raise then you can press the Forward or Back buttons to move the tonearm to another track on the record. These functions all worked correctly during extensive testings.
Has switch for 33, Auto, and 45 speeds. In Auto mode will detect record size and adjust things accordingly- was tested with a 45 record and works correctly. A single 45 RPM adapter is included as shown. If you want to keep the cover upright when changing a record it's easy to put something in place to keep it propped open as shown in photos. Alternatively you can just lift the dust cover off and place to one side, or if you have one of those enclosed stereo racks with tempered glass tops you'll want to remove the dust cover anyway.
Some minor cosmetic wear, not bad. There are some cracks in the cover near the hinges but they are not the reason the it won't stay open and don't seem to be causing any issues, see last two photos for details on this.
