For Sale: Tested and working matched pair of legendary Ed May designed 3 way Marantz speakers. Made in USA in the 1970's.
All original. Sound quality is excellent, no issues. Rated 35 Hz to 20 Khz, 8 ohm I believe they are rated 125 watt.
Cabs and grills show some wear but display pretty nicely in my opinion. Woofers both were refoamed in August 2014, cones have no rips, tears, holes, or voice coil rubbing. Midrange cones are in the same excellent condition. Tweeter domes are perfectly rounded. Both high and mid level pots are working correctly.
The Vari-Q bass port closures are in good shape but as always the original foam insulation had turned to dust. I cut some acoustic insulation foam removed from other speakers into a rough cylindrical shapes and used that- it works fine but if you want you should be able to do a better job. Since the foam is almost completely hidden behind the Vari-Q cover you don't have to change if you don't want to.
