For Sale- Vintage classic 1970's speakers.

Excellent sound quality- distinctive Marantz sound which is warm and detailed. All original with very heavy and high quality construction. Working 100%. Woofers have treated textile surrounds which will never rot and need replacing like foam surrounds eventually do. Blue cones have no rips, tears, holes, or voice coil rubbing. Tweeters are in great shape and dust caps are perfectly rounded.

When I got these the foam on the midrange drivers was 95% intact but starting to crumble and had "stretch mark" gaps in it. I carefully covered the foam with many layers of high quality rubber cement- would have just replaced the foam surround but did not have the correct size. The midrange drivers sounded excellent even before I put the rubber cement layers on and they sound just as good now. The rubber cement is only covering the foam and can be easily removed if/when you want to restore these with new foam. It's not necessary but would improve the cosmetic condition.

Cabs have some wear and scratches but are solid. Should refinish nicely... The original grill foam has long since rotted away and previous owner replaced it with good quality material but it's not the exact same size as original, still looks good IMO. The grills are two piece with masonite back and foam held on by velco- original grill foam was glued in place.

Info found on the web:

"The Imp 7 was designed as an "JBL L100 killer," unlike the Imp 6, 8 and 9 which were designed for extremely flat frequency response."

Email your zip code for shipping fees- should be between $26.99 and $100.99 if you are in the continental US- due to heavy weight will most likely have to be shipping in two boxes (July 2013).
