The portable unit's battery does not hold a good charge which means you won't be able to record and playback programming on the go unless you buy a new one- they are a snap to replace and available on ebay for about $7. Works fine with the dock when used in car or at home.
Unit has a nice sharp color screen, good satellite reception even indoors on second floor. The remote has a good battery and all functions, buttons, etc. on remote control, dock, and portable unit are working correctly. I am not the original owner but have owned this for over a year and it's aways picked up all the stations, no fees have ever been paid so it's assumed to have Lifetime Activation. May have been a store demo or someone may have paid for Lifetime when the purchased- regardless it receives the stations and no fees need to be paid, and has done so for over a year... Have found and sold several Sirius radios with lifetime and all continue to receive all the stations- this sums it up:
"This SIRIUS ... radio was obtained second hand... and was found to be fully activated. Activation includes over 100 channels including those shown in the pictures. ... these units once activated (and not reset) are well known to keep playing. "
