Signal Corps Wells Gardner BC-348-J WWII RADIO RECEIVER - works

$320.00

For Sale: World War II era all tube radio receiver in working condition.

The radio powers up (first time checked was with variac very slowly) and with a small piece of wire for antenna receives transmissions on many frequencies, mostly droning sounds. Headphone audio output, no built in speaker. All controls seem to be working correctly. The AVC makes the sound in headphones get louder or softer. BFO changes pitch of transmissions. Dial lite is working and has adjustable brightness.

These radios usually come with a voltage converter dynamo power supply, this one uses standard US 120 volt AC power and has a built in tube power supply that looks like a factory made type as it is a perfect fit. A power cord with the correct multi pin plug is included. The inside of the back of removable case has BC-348-Q label on it, looks original to this radio. Serial number is 1051. The radio is pretty clean and does not show much wear, looks all original. These radios were used in WW II planes like the B52 and there was apparently one of them in the Enola Gay.

When I bought this came with tag that says "WORKS HAS AC POWER SUPPLY" and they were telling the truth, praise be.
