For Sale:  Tested and working vintage locomotive in pretty good shape.

I checked this with a Lionel AC transformer and it ran as expected- applying power moved the locomtive forward, when powered down then powered up again the locomotive moves in reverse, and so on.  Worked correctly each and every time.  Shows some normal wear but nothing appears broken or damaged.  The wheels will need a good cleaning with steel wool or fine sandpaper to improve electrical contact with the track.  The headlight did not light up so assume needs a new bulb.  The 999 side decals are in nice shape- often these are missing or very worn.

Reasearch on the web indicates this is the late 1940's model with plain rivets on the pilot.  The matching tin litho New York Central tender shows minor paint wear only, clean wheels and axles, good link connector, rolls smoothly.  This train runs on Marx or Lionel 0 027 track.  It runs on AC voltage not DC.  You should be able to run this as-is but recommend a tune up with lubrication and possible adjustment for best results as probably has not been in many decades except for testing by me.
