For Sale: Tested and working great classic 1970's turntable.
Here is a YouTube video showing the turntable being tested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiAQ4xLtZok
This is a manual belt drive turntable - no automatic features at all, so nothing to break down. To play a record you raise the cuing lever and move the tonearm to the first track. The platter will automatically start turning. You then lower the cuing lever and the tonearm gently drops, and album plays. At the end of the album you have to raise the cuing lever, move the tonearm back to the holder, and lower the cuing lever. The platter will stop spinning at that point.
Belt is in good shape, speed sounds correct on both 33 and 45 RPM. The cartridge is an Audio Technica and has an original stylus that is in good shape. Good sound quality, clear treble and bass, no skipping, no hum, no distortion, no issues.
The dust cover and hinges are not original to this table but look good and are a pretty good fit. There is a little shifting when you raise the cover but when raised it stays in place.
The is a heavy turntable with a very solid feel to the plinth/base. There is some minor wear but not bad. Nice vibration absorbing original feet.
The Pioneer PL-512 is a 2-speed, belt-driven turntable with static balance type s-shaped tonearm.
