Kenwood KR-9400 - STEREO RECEIVER - 1975 flagship model, tested

$525.00

For Sale: Classic 1970's Kenwood stereo receiver in pretty good shape.

YouTube video to demo working condition: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7HGSwAnxcVw

Appears to be working 100% with the exception of the stereo on the FM radio band. It tunes in stations well and sound quality is excellent on both FM and AM however the stereo indicator light never comes on and doesn't seem to be be receiving in stereo.

Some minor wear on the real wood veneer, not bad though.

Appears to be all original with no repairs or modifications made. All the dial and indicator lights appear to be working. All the switches, dials, inputs, outputs, features, etc. appear to be working- there is just a little bit of noise in the volume knob when you change volume- the pot needs a good cleaning, it's not excessive.  The receiver was kind of dirty and dusty when found, has been cleaned up, can use some detailing but not necessary.

No hum or distortion, Excellent and very powerful full range sound.

Lots of high end features. VERY heavy receiver.

The KR-9400 is the most powerful stereo receiver Kenwood has ever built, delivering a minimum of 120 watts of continuous power per channel into 8 ohm speakers, both channels driven, 20 Hz to 20 kHz, with no more than 0.1% total harmonic distortion.

The precision equalizer phono preamplifier section of the KR-9400 uses low-noise metal encapsulated transistors to deliver an exceptionally high signal to noise ratio and assure utmost circuit reliability.

The KR-9400 provides extremely high FM stereo separation throughout the audio spectrum, thanks to a newly developed phase lock loop IC circuit incorporated in the stereo FM decoder section, achieving more than 45dB separation at 1 kHz; better than 35dB at all frequencies from 30Hz to 10kHz.

A cool-running power transformer and massive heat sinks form the heart of a dual positive-negative power supply to the high-output transistor stages. This no-compromise design assures safe, cool operation even under continuous full-power output.
