To play an album you place on the platter then move the tonearm over the first track. The table will automatically power up and platter will start spinning. You then move the cuing switch to the left and the tonearm gently drops and the album begins playing. At the end of the record the tonearm automatically raises up, moves back to the holder, gently lowers, and the turntable powers off. Worked correctly 100% of the time during testing.
You can also press the "stop" control and if the album is playing tonearm will raise up, return to holder, lower, and power off. Works every time. The speed control and speed adjustment dial are both working correctly as is the red strobe light - will show steady speeds for both 33 and 45 RPM.
Includes original power cord, a set of RCA interconnect cables, and a yellow adapter for 45 RPM records. An orange ground wire has been installed which connects to the ground connector on your receiver or amplifier and gets rid of any hum.
Minor issues: 1). the original rubber platter mat had stiffened up and was a bit warped so was replaced with a slightly smaller one from another vintage turntable. It works fine and doesn't look bad. You can get an original replacement platter mat online or a new replacement, you could also use cork or felt or a DJ mat. 2). The knob for the anti-skating control was missing when found- the control can still be adjusted without much trouble. Included is the top of a knob cover from another turntable but it's just cosmetic/not attached and to adjust anti skating you need to take the cover off and turn with a screwdriver, needle nose pliers, or something similar. Or you could glue it in place or something if you prefer. 3). Like most of these older Technics tables the removable/replaceable dust cover hinges are not in great shape. One seems OK, the other has some broken plastic parts and spring issue. They work fine to hold the cover in place when lowered, when raised sometimes it will stay upright sometimes it will not. Dust cover itself has some minor wear and a chip in one of the hinge pegs but still works fine and looks good IMO. If the dust cover won't stay open you can always lift it off the hinges and place to the side when you change a record.
